No Peaches for 2025

No peaches 2025. Bummer.

Many of ya’ll have been asking for months now when the peaches will be ready. We have been trying to wait to answer until we felt confident with the answer. We feel confident now. We don’t have peaches for 2025

FIRST Problem:

The late freeze on April 7th knocked out 85%+ of the peaches by killing the bloom. We knew that. Bummer.

SECOND Problem:

What we didn’t know was that a late freeze could ALSO create defects in the peaches whereby they wouldn’t ever mature. Of the tiny amount of peaches that didn’t get knocked out by the late freeze, 80% of those remaining are defects and tiny little nothing nibblets. The peaches pictured here should be 10X that size. What’s there isn’t even worth eating. It’s a dry and tasteless nothing. Bummer.

THIRD Problem:

Because there have been so few peaches, we haven’t been spraying them with anything to keep the bugs and the fungus away. Sprays are REALLY expensive, and most of the trees have nothing on them, so we cannot spray the sporadic fruiting. The result is that many of the peaches that DID ripen correctly are all being obliterated by these huge flying beetles. Bummer.

It would have been better to just make the call earlier this year, but we didn’t know what we know today.

We have had the most incredible run of poor weather for the last 8 or so years. I think that out of those 8 years we only had maybe 3 years that weren’t either a freeze, hail, or drought. We hate to let yall down.

Maybe next year!

Graham

Trees are awesome. In a world where everything is dominated by instant gratification, working with a tree that must be nurtured for years forces you to slow down and appreciate the value of hard work.
